The first visit to the office can be for several different reasons.
Emergency / Pain
Emergencies are best handled first thing in the morning so don't wait until the end of the day to call. All emergency situations are evaluated at the time of the call. We immediately suggest to come down down to the office as soon as possible; however calling as early as possible in the day will give us all ample time to make the proper arrangements in caring for your emergency situation. This will give you enough time to notify your e mployer so you can leave the office for an hour or two to take care of the problem. Dr. Perry can provide you with a doctor’s note if necessary. Although emergency dental care is a disruption in your busy schedule; don’t put it off until the problem worsens.
General checkup and hygiene
This visit is usually set up in advance by the staff. Your first visit will include a full mouth series of dental images, a clinical checkup by Dr. Perry including a periodontal / gum evaluation. Review of your general health and a basic above the gumline cleaning by his dental hygienist. Fluoride is used on all adults as well as children to promote healthy teeth and gums. See our section on fluoride to learn about the benefits of fluoride use on adults.
If you require additional treatment future appointments are made to accommodate ours and your schedules.
Child's first dental visit
Usually should be done between three and four years of age. We count the teeth Dr. Perry and his dental hygienist will perform a cleaning, fluoride application and if dental images are required they will be taken depending on the child’s age.
Consultations
If you feel you need extensive dental treatment because you have not been to the dentist in a long time. You can describe this situation to the clerical staff and appointed with Dr. Perry for a discussion about your treatment options.

This visit may or may not include dental images and clinical examination. Most often photos of your mouth are taken and study casts are made. You will be asked to return for a second visit in which Dr. Perry will go over your treatment needs and plan a schedule to accomplish your dental expectation goals.

Second Opinions
If you feel as though you need to speak with Dr. Perry about previous treatment done by another dentist, this is usually done in the same fashion as described in the consultation section above. Dr. Perry will need a current set of dental images; request them from your previous dentist and be sure and bring them to your visit. If you forget or if Dr. Perry feels additional images are necessary then he will order them at this visit. Sometimes a second visit will be required to fully discuss all your concerns.
Specific Service Visits
Your current dentist may not perform the placement and restorations of dental implants, tooth whitening, or invisible braces. You can set up an appointment for a consultation for these types of services. Then return to your regular dentist at the completion of this treatment.
